On Thursday, November 16, the Wood County Democratic Party elected Zach Schmidt Chair of the Executive Committee and strategized for 2024. Mike Zickar was honored for his 16 years of service as Chair.

David Pepper, former ODP Chair, author, and voting rights activist (he was featured heavily in the Stacey Abrams documentary on Netflix on voting rights) will be at Gathering Volumes (196 E Boundary, Perryburg) on Tuesday, January 10, 2023. At 6 p.m., he will be meeting with the Toledo Persists group leading a discussion on his latest book, Laboratories in Autocracy. At 7 p.m., he will be doing a general meet-and-greet and author reading and book signing. Stop by on Tuesday to meet David and to support a great independent bookstore (run by Democrats!).

On Thursday, March 3, 2022 at 7 p.m., the Wood County Democratic Party will meet via Zoom and will be hearing from Jan Materni, who will is running for State House, as well as Dr. Nick Pfleghaar, who is running for Wood County Commissioner. We will likely be joined by candidates for one or more statewide offices as well.

Main, BG), representatives from the Ohio Democratic Party will be kicking off our coordinated campaign efforts this year and laying out grassroots efforts that will be essential for us winning control of the Ohio Supreme Court as well as the Governor's Office and other statewide and local races. In addition, Brenna Reynolds (Rossford City Council) and Nick Rubando (BG City Council) will be speaking about how grassroots efforts helped propel their campaigns to victory last year. It will take that level of effort this year again! We will be meeting, though virtually only, on Thursday February 3, 2022 at 7 p.m. We will have a virtual guest, Representative Jeff Crossman (who has Wood County roots), who is running for Attorney General. We will also hear from local candidates and will have some exciting announcements. Plus, we'll honor and celebrate the volunteers and candidates who worked so hard in 2021. We will not be meeting April 2nd due to the pandemic and restrictions to gathering. Once it is safe to meet, we will be scheduling a make-up meeting. Also, we will be setting up an informal Zoom meeting in the near future that you can jump into if you have the technology so that we can check in and find out ways that we can help our local candidates. Finally, if you did not vote already via early voting or absentee voting for the primary that was supposed to take place on March 17th, request your absentee ballot ASAP.
